Kalmar is seeking a Director of Value Engineering to spearhead our Value Analysis initiatives, championing cost-efficient design changes in partnership with business leaders and cross-functional teams. As the Director of Value Engineering, you will lead efforts to optimize components, streamline supply chain processes, and drive material cost reductions without compromising product quality. Your expertise in engineering, project management, and sourcing will play a pivotal role in delivering rapid, impactful results. This leadership position offers the opportunity to innovate and drive change while contributing to Kalmar’s global strategy.
Main tasks and responsibilities
Lead and Innovate: Guide a team of professionals in delivering cost-saving design changes across Kalmar’s product lines, with a focus on standardization
Optimize Processes: Define and enforce consistent Value Engineering practices, leveraging industry best practices to achieve measurable results
Collaborate Across Functions: Partner with sourcing, engineering, product management, and factories to foster open dialogue and ensure seamless execution
Cost Analysis and Reduction: Conduct cost-down workshops, product teardowns, and Design-to-Cost activities. Utilize should-cost modeling to create impactful price development models
Drive Strategic Change: Identify productivity opportunities, introduce innovative solutions, and contribute to Kalmar’s overall product strategy
Mentorship and Development: Conduct technical reviews and mentor teams, fostering on-the-job learning and development
Communication and collaboration skills: Manage external and internal stakeholders relationship to drive the initiatives and deliver the results.



What you’ll need to succeed
Educational Background: University degree in Mechanical or Industrial Engineering
Experience: Proven expertise in Value Engineering, cost reduction, standardization, and sourcing. Supplier development experience is a plus
Leadership Skills: Strong stakeholder management, collaboration, and relationship-building abilities
Problem-Solving Prowess: Innovative and resourceful, with the ability to resolve complex challenges
Project Management: Strong acumen in managing multiple projects and meeting milestones
Flexibility: Willingness to travel and adapt to a dynamic, global environment.

Senior Manager, eMobility will Lead the Kalmar eMobility team and work together with all parts of our global organisation, especially R&D function. In this position Senior Manager, eMobility will be responsible for developing concepts and providing expertise to Kalmar divisions in the areas of electric powertrain systems, battery technologies, and charging solutions.
In this role you will secure total cost of efficient products and solutions within the responsibility area by;
Driving the strategy for the area of responsibility, based on the Kalmar strategy.
Developing and maintaining the Kalmar electrification roadmap
Developing competencies for the team of direct reports and provide them with the tools necessary to perform their work in a safe and effective way.
Developing and continuously improving effective processes for the area of responsibility, including key interfaces to other processes, teams, and functions.



The location of this position is Ljungby, Sweden and you will report to the Head of R&D.
You’ll need to succeed:
Education:
Master or Bachelor Degree in Electrical Engineering or similar interest and experience.
Experience:
10+ years experience in an engineering and product development environment with proven results.
Management experience from people in leadership positions.
Hands-on project management experience.
Product development experience from non-road mobile machinery is qualifying.
International working experience is preferred.

Competencies:
System level understanding and capability to design electrification solutions
Visionary - provides context and long term direction; engagement through dialog
Participative - engages others in the leadership process; collaborative problem resolution and decision-making
Coaching - nurtures performance and secures the personnel’s growth in the team
Fluent in English
Knowledge in Swedish, Polish or Mandarin is beneficial, but not mandatory
